About the artwork:

The overarching theme of this series touches on the beauty of Siargao Island and the profound feeling it brings.

Coconut Jungle. For Kate, there’s nothing more calming than being surrounded by towering coconut trees. It’s like her natural habitat, her safe space. The beauty and pleasing appearance of coconut trees make her feel less stressed and more restored. The island makes it so easy for her to switch off and be in the moment, thanks to its gorgeous views of infinite coconut fields.

About Kate Quebrar:

Kate Quebrar is a creative designer, calligrapher and muralist. She worked as an advertising art director for both local and global brands before she transitioned to being an independent branding designer and muralist in 2018. She began painting murals back in 2015 and had an opportunity to be one of the artists for Art BGC in 2016. Since then, her mural journey snowballed from there, allowing her to collaborate with brands such as The Walt Disney/Lucasfilm, Wanderland Music & Arts Festival, Filinvest, Johnnie Walker, Warner Music Philippines, McCann Worldgroup, and Adore Cosmetics. Her branding clients include both local and international start-up brands that gravitate around lifestyle, travel, and sustainability.

She is now based in Siargao Island, juggling work and life by painting more murals, writing signature logos as a day job, crafting branding identities on the side, and surfing usually at sunset time. Recently, her Sundays are spent visiting other towns and helping young kids develop their creativity through art together with other artists on the island.

While her job as a graphic designer requires precision and accuracy, she finds comfort in using loose sketching / coloring technique on her artworks. A traditional artist who likes to explore different kinds of medium and also a digital artist who creates conceptual illustrations and collage.
